Subsonic 7.62x39 gorilla ammo11/20/2023 ![]() Just a little insurance if it went south. 1 was shot holding the gun as far away from me as possible with a table and other things between me and the gun. Zero pressure signs at all, no sonic crack or bullet noise at all, and does not hurt the ears to shoot without hearing protection. I was at 25 yards and they impacted about 6 inches low and 2 inches right compared to my normal rounds of Tulammo 122 grain HP. Gotta make sure I write down good data and pay close attention to pressure signs and keyholing. I will wait until I have a little down time to test these loads at 25 yards. The rounds feed in the action, but I don't have any clue how they shoot, group, stabilize, or if they will cycle the action yet. The 200 gn Sierra game king barely loaded to 2.2 OAL with the case neck and crimp landing right at the edge of the ogive. (I understand this is not scientific in anyway and is just a mere musing). The bullet with the bullet loaded backwards had a lot more powder shaking around then the one loaded forward. I loaded one with powder and the bullet loaded backwards to give it the old redneck shake check to compare load density. I loaded up six with the 200 gn loaded forwards at 2.2 OAL, 6 grains red dot, CCI #200, and once fired Winchester brass. It wouldn't chamber in my AR15 because of the extremely blunt tip. I loaded a dumby round with the 200 grain sierra game king seated backwards at 2.2 OAL. Red Dot is a high volume powder so I think even a 5.0 grain charge would still be safe, but this is where I need load software to test the percentage of load volume in this case with this bullet and powder.Īmy help of insight will be much appreciated. But I also don't want to blow myself up trying this. I don't know if and don't think this will cycle the action of an AR15, but it would be neat to see. I plan to use a CCI LRP, winchester brass, sierra game king 200 grain SPBT, OAL 2.200, and 6.0 grains Red Dot. I was wondering if anyone with QuickLoad or similar software could run some numbers for me. I have read about using Red Dot powder and drilling the primer flash holes out to 9/64" to aid in an even primer flash and reduce the chance of detonation from the primer flash going past the powder charge and igniting the powder from both ends. I am looking at using a 200 grain sierra SPBT loaded backwards into the case to help with stabilization (intent is to eventually start casting my own 180-220 grain soft lead alloy bullets and I understand lead bullets naturally lubricate the barrel more than jacketed and there are other benefits with lead when loading light as compared to jacketed). I have googled it a bunch and have come up with a handful of possible loads, but I wanted to pick the brains of the members here first. I have been kicking around the idea of playing with subsonic loads with it just for fun. I have an AR15 in 7.62X39 with a 1:10 twist barrel.
